Could Have Gone to Rio! Bethel Woods Spartan Race HERE WE COME!!! Who wants to join us???

So, this morning was definitely one of those "Tears on the yoga mat" kind of mornings. It's been quite some time since the flood gates opened in class and today was for good reason.

Friday night I had an unfortunate riding accident, and I definitely feel the impact throughout my entire body.  Life with horses is always interesting and far from dull.

It's been a while since my last post, and it has been an incredible journey as I work towards building a fitter, stronger body every day.  I've made some great friends at the gym, and I've been truly blessed to be riding a good friend's horses almost daily and foxhunting with my second family - the Amwell Valley Hounds.

The real reason for this post is to share that my husband and I signed up for a Spartan Race!  Less than two weeks from today, we, along with a number of friends, old and new will be heading up to Bethel Woods where Woodstock was held and be giving the Sprint a go.  Ah, for those that haven't heard of a Spartan Race, here's how the Spartan website describes it:

"Spartan's mission is to help people live without limits. Our training and race events can help everyone develop the physical and mental strength to take on all of life's challenges with an unbreakable spirit.

We believe that living "the hard way" based on ancient wisdom and daily training can make us the people we were born to be."

Last year, I was at the NJ Tri-Fecta Spartan race as a vendor with some of my friends from MagnaWave and I was so inspired by the race participants I dreamt of being able to participate in one myself.  All ages, all fitness levels and NO EXCUSES!!!! Honestly though, I really didn't think there was ANY chance that I would be stable enough on my knee or fit enough to do it.

Daily visits, sometimes twice a day to any one of the numbers of awesome classes has given me more stability than I could have hoped for.  I may not be perfectly stable, but stable enough to give a run/walk with 20 obstacles a go.  If I can't get over or under the obstacle, I can do an extra loop or burpees.  Maybe burpees.

How is the "Could Have Gone to Rio" portion of the title relevant????  My husband was invited to present at a conference in Rio, all expenses paid... the SAME weekend as the Race.  He politely declined as he knew how excited I was about participating.  Yes, this man is a keeper.  He tolerates, even supports all of my crazy equine adventures, and is now on board for the next chapter. YAY!!!

I'm crossing fingers and toes that I my aching body doesn't lose too much fitness over the next week as I recover from my latest mishap.

Regardless of how I feel, we WILL COMPETE on June 8th at 10:45am... Serious question here - WHO WANTS TO JOIN US?????
